Laura Tidbits: Podcasts I’m Loving Right Now

Laura Tidbits” was a semi-blog series I did back in college (and by semi, I mean two posts) to give insight to who this woman is behind the blog. When I talked a few months ago about losing myself, I realized that I share very few details here about myself. Things I love, what I do outside of blogging and writing, hell, I don’t share pictures of myself either. So I want to change that, starting with little details and things I believe.

I am a podcast junkie. My job is pretty chill where I can listen to music all day long. Now I find listening to music gets repetitive, so I’ve turned to podcasts. Now that I have all day to listen, I’m finding myself binging through podcasts in a week or less. Because I’m burning through this list so fast, I want to share some of the podcasts I’m loving right now.

Podcasts I’m Loving Right Now

1. Up & Vanished

This is the longest one I’ve listened to so far. The first season tells the story of a woman, Tara Grinstead, who disappeared in Georgia back in 2005 and they never found her. There are a lot of episodes in this first season and it’s taken me a week a half of listening 6-7 hours a day. I’m finally at the end of season one, and I’m not sure if I want to wait for season two to finish or go ahead with it.

You’ll love this podcast if you want a podcast that has updates happening during the lifetime of the show, you love unexpected turns, or you want a long podcast you can sink your teeth into.

2. Dirty John

This one is also a true crime podcast and there’s going to be a TV show about it! This one is only seven episodes, so I listened to the whole thing in one day and it was a trip. The ending really got to me, too, because it was so different. If you haven’t listened to it, I highly recommend it. It’s a quick show so you can finish it fast.

3. Slow Burn

There are two seasons to this one, the first covers the lead up to Watergate. The second one (the current season) is covering the lead up to Bill Clinton’s impeachment. As a political junkie, I’ve devoured this show and I’m annoyed that they only do episodes every two weeks. If you’re interested in history or politics, this is a fantastic show to listen to.

4. The Wilderness

This one is one I’ve only listened to a little bit (I’ll come back and listen once I finish Up & Vanished). This podcast is another political one, from one of the guys who worked in the Obama administration. This podcast covers the history of the Democratic party from its inception all the way up to the point of the 2016 election and “what went wrong” when they lost to Trump.

I’ll admit, this guy seems like he’s a little too big for his own ego, but I’m still going to listen to see what’s next.

5. LRC Presents: All the President’s Lawyers

Okay, so I know I’m a little extreme on the politics, but if you’re trying to make sense of all the changing legal issues around this presidency, this podcast is for you. It’s thirty minutes every Wednesday with a criminal defense attorney, trying to make sense of all of this.

Other Podcasts I’m Looking Forward to To

  • Season three of Serial
  • White Boy Rick
  • Sworn
  • Hollywood & Crime

In fact, this week, Monday night, I went through my podcast app and subscribed to about ten different podcasts. Now that I’m constantly listening to them, I’m afraid I’ll run out of content.
