These days, I feel like my life is moving faster than I really know how to let it. In the past sixty days, I’ve purchased a new car, published a new book, and I interviewed, accepted, and started a new position at my employer. It’s weird to think just how different everything is.
While there have been a lot of good changes (I somehow got a social life), there are some days where I miss the quiet of coming home after work and just working some more. Balance is something I’m struggling to learn on an entire new level this year.
I’ll spend this entire month in taining for my new job and possibly two weekends back at home for my brother’s graduation party and his actual graduation. I already know that I’m going to have to be super focused this month to get my work done.
This month, I’m also trying a new layout in my planner – the dashboard layout. I want to focus on weekly to-do lists this month instead of daily ones. I just want to see if this makes me more productive or just more realistic about the fact I put too much on my plate. We’ll just have to see how it works.
Now, how did April go?

Well, I got no goals done last month! I didn’t need to do any additional job interviews as I found out I had a new job pretty early into the month.
A lot of my content goals for Laura Teagan and ginger and co. were put off by the fact that I moved hosts and there’s been an on-going battle with malicious code in my websites. It’s taken a long time to finally beat the code but I think we’ve finally gotten it done.
Another thing that’s hurt me is I have a bad habit of getting into bed after work. It all stemmed from my time living with my grandparents where I didn’t have a desk. After eating and cleaning, I’d crawl into bed and sit there for three hours working or reading.
Working from bed is a great way to kill my producivity so I didn’t get much done. But after four months, it was a habit I’m still struggling to break.
Either way, I always find a new month to be a sign to start a new. A new month and a new job in one week, it’s time to really get back to focusing on what I want out of my life.
